Short description: The course realized issues concerning solid biofuels, as a separate group of renewable energy especially from the biomass. Particular emphasis is placed on the characteristics of solid biofuels, property, resources, possibilities for energy crops, the method of compacting and storage of solid biofuels.
Full description: The subject of the course includes issues related to identifying the resources and types of solid biomass to be used for energy purposes. Biomass resources for energy and non-energy goals. Energy plant - types, the base of growing and harvesting. Possibilities of obtaining biomass, waste and cultivated for energy purposes. Possibilities use of solid biomass and its properties. Technology acquisition and compacting biomass. Fundamentals of the compaction process biomass. Machinery and equipment for briquetting and pelletizing. The production and use of compacted biomass. Determination of the area and resources of solid biomass in terms of demand for energy, etc.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student has knowledge in chemistry, biochemistry, and biology necessary to understand the processes occurring at the time of obtaining energy products and precipitation plant and animal origin as well as other renewable energy sources as energy crops R1 RES _W03. Student has knowledge in the field of solid biomass and the processes of obtaining and processing, including waste biomass from agricultural and animal R1 RES _W04. Student has knowledge of the biosphere, chemical and physical processes occurring in nature at the time of obtaining energy from renewable sources, including biomass from agricultural and animal R1 RES _W09. Skills: Student is able to obtain information from literature, databases, and other sources; is able to integrate the information obtained, to make their interpretation, as well as draw conclusions and formulate and justify opinions concerning solid biofuels R1TRL_U01. Student can using basic information technology to acquire and process information in the field of renewable energy and waste management. Student can to solve based on standard operation Engineering production problems and operating in the field of waste management and renewable energy sources, taking into account the requirements of environmental care R1OŹE _U11. Student can supervised perform simple tasks research and design in the area of waste management and renewable energy sources R1OŹE _U12. Social competences: Student is aware of the importance, responsibility and impacts of engineering the renewable energy and waste management in terms of responsibility for the quality of life of people and the environment R1TRL_K02. Student understands the need and know the possibilities of continuous training (studies II and III degree, post-graduate courses) - improve professional skills, personal and social R1TRL_K01.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: grade obtained at classes (50%) + grade obtained at lectures (50%)
